Life can get a little crazy sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hawaii Day 2 - Merry Christmas Eve

The second day was Christmas Eve! It was pretty windy and overcast so we decided to take a drive up toward the North Shore.  Below is my absolute favorite tree! I believe it is called a Monkey Pod.

They have filmed quite a few movies on this ranch! You can pay for a tour of it, and they have all sorts of activities...but we chose to just drive quickly by!

I spotted this flower while we were eating lunch! They have them everywhere! So pretty! :D

Heidi had three desires while we were in Hawaii. #1 Get Shaved Ice, #2 Spend lots of time on the beach and #3 see turtles! Laniakea Beach is supposedly the best beach to view turtles! It is not an easy place to find. Unless you are looking at the traffic instead of the ocean. When you are stopped forever you know you are almost there! When we got to the beach this huge turtle was just coming up to check out the sun. Unfortunately he got crowed by too many people, or the sun wasn't warm enough so he/she headed quickly back into the ocean.

I decided to try out snorkeling on this beach! It was quite the experience! It took me a while to get used to breathing from a tube, and I never got brave enough to actually submerge the tube. I'm so glad I decided to though! The fish were spectacular! So vibrant in color and I think I saw over 3000. They swim in schools and were everywhere! I wish I would have had an underwater camera! Half of me was hoping I would see a turtle while swimming in the area, and the other half of me was terrified that I would see a turtle! After about an hour of snorkeling and no luck finding a turtle I decided to go bodyboarding with Matt.

The waves were breaking too close to the beach so we decided to venture out a little farther away. BAD IDEA! We had somehow missed all the rip tide warning signs and unbeknownst to us at the time we ended up getting caught in one that took us about 1/3 of a mile away from the beach! Maybe that doesn't seem too far to you, but Heidi and Dad on the beach were ity bitty! It took about 2 hours of STRONG kicking to finally make it back to shore. I was terrified, overjoyed, and exhausted all at the same time! Random but I for some reason talk in a British accent when I am out in the ocean...not sure where that came from. It first appeared when I thought Matt and I were going to die... I'm sure it will be a memory Matt won't soon forget! ;)

We found this gem of a house on our drive back to Kaneohe . I LOVED all the Santas and the snowflakes :) So fun!

We decided to have our Christmas Eve dinner at this Thai place. It reminded all of us of A Christmas Story. My family hasn't had much Thai so I got to introduce them to some of my roommate and I's favorite stuff.
