A little under a year ago I was introduced to the Gomez family through David Archuleta. Johan Gomez is a little boy from Utah with two rare blood disorders. His favorite sport is Soccer and he loves Real Salt Lake. His Make a Wish dream was to get to spend a day with the team, and he also wished to meet David Archuleta. Never did he think he would get to do both in one day! Below is a little clip of what happened when the two met at half time to sing David's "Touch my Hand."
This is a slideshow with pictures from the day.
Now for the main reason for this post. Jonah and his family were also the lucky recipients of an ABC Extreme Home Makeover house. The home was build last summer, but recently they had a little open house so people could come and see the home. My friend/roommate Karli was nice enough to go on this little adventure with me. It was sooo cool to get to see one of the homes in real life, and we even registered to become Bone Marrow Donors. The only thing that will save Jonah's life will be a bone marrow transplant. To learn more go here. Below are our pics from the day. :)
This is the waterfall that was built in Jonah's Room. He loves water, but the mold created by water features is too dangerous to his health, so they gave him this instead! :) It was decorated in a pirate theme! His bed was one half of a ship and his sister's bed was the other half. Her room was right next to his separated with a pane of glass. Her's was a little mermaid theme, and in between the two rooms was a HUGE slide that went to their basement. We got to go down it! :D So fun!
He can't go outside a lot of the time so they created a soccer field in his basement! So cool! :D If you look closely you can see Johan playing goalie! We got to meet his mom and a couple other members of his family too. :)
This is the front of the home. :)
Thanks for coming with me Karli!! :) Such a memorable experience! (Sorry for the squinty eyes! It was super bright outside :D)
